Saree to Work

Hi everyone,

As the subject says, I am going to talk about wearing Indian traditional costume, saree to work.

Why? I had a recent incident where my colleague wore saree to work. It was Vinayar Chaturthi, an auspicious day for Hindus.

The moment my colleague entered the floor, I saw many people on the floor gave her a look which I can't classify if they find it funny or it is something they had never seen in their life. Well, most people working in my office are Indians and Malaysians. So, everyone knows what is saree.

My colleague was not wearing a neon coloured saree, she was not wearing a see through saree, she was not wearing a blouse which reveals all, the saree has minimal embroidery, she was not wearing heavy accessories, even her bangles was simple. I would say, for a saree, she was extremely simple and work appropriate.

I saw an Indian lady, people I am not being racist here, I am an Indian girl as well. I am dissappointed because she looked at my colleague from top to bottom, bottom to top and laughed with her another colleague. This lady is working next to my department and she will not smile even if you smile at her. I thought she do not know how to respond to human being but here she is, laughing at my colleague. What is so funny?

In the washroom, a lady asked my colleagu why are you in saree? My colleague answered it is Vinayagar Chaturthi. She then asked, so you must wear saree is it? And my collegue and I doesn't even know her.

Malays wear their baju kurung, kebaya and baju melayu almost everyday. We, Indians don't laugh about it. Chinese ladies wear their cheongsam sometimes, we Indians don't criticize about it. But, why saree???

Well, in my opinion, the saree she wore that was the most simple saree that I have ever seen. I salute ladies who wear saree to work. Usually on Fridays, it is a norm to go to work in traditional attire. Why don't we make it a norm for saree as well? It is also a traditional attire.

Simplicity of saree or how it is appropriate to work solely depends on the person wearing it. There are different types of saree, different types of embroidery and different colours. I am not a fashion guru but  I don't feel wrong to wear a simple saree to work.

It is exactly how a salwar kameez or kurti is choosed...

Bye...

Feelings whatever...

I want to write...inspirations are there yet I am so addicted with sleeping.

Sleeping. I read somewhere, Facebook I guess. I read that lonely people sleeps a lot. Like seriously...I guess I am surrounded by some kind souls for 11 hours a day...or less. I talk to my mother and husband every single day. I report to my mother everyday. So, I have no time to be lonely.

Furthermore, now I am addicted to some games. Temple Run la, Coin Dozer la, Cookie Dozer la and now Angry Bird. I love Cookie Dozer, I can smell Famous Amos cookies while I am playing it. Huhu....

Yes, I am surrounded by some kind souls. I talk to my mother and husband yes...but my mother is at Teluk Intan and my husband is sometimes at Terengganu, Kelantan, KL... I meet him like 2 weeks once...

So yeah,

I miss teh tariking with my friends... teh tarik, roti canai with chicken/mutton peraddal. It is a bliss...go to hell diet...

I miss drawing, drawing henna designs and use my mother as a model, haha sometimes victim and reading novels.

Am I lonely now? Or am I stressed with work? Or do I miss my parents, husband and friends?

Whatever...

Happy weekends people!!!!

Smile...if people smile at you or don't. (I will talk about this one day)
