Curly Hair

Some time back, I decided not to straight or rebond my hair anymore and I am still sticking to it. I wrote about it here.

And yes, here I am 3 months with no rebonding. Back then, my main idea was to avoid the process of rebonding and to be up to date with the curly hair season. But, I realize I have actually avoided chemicals on my hair.

I still have the mind set that curls are hard to maintain. My hair is curly, frizzy and dry. Of course, I find it hard to take care. Well, using Google search, I found so many websites on how to take care of curly hair and my favourite one will be www.naturallycurly.com.

Now, I am on a free chemical mission which means I am trying to go all natural, let it be hair care products, face care products, skin care products or body care products. Even food. I am still a beginner so there is a lot to learn.

Since my topic will be curly hair today, I am going to talk about silicones in shampoos. Almost all shampoos have silicone and sulphate which is bad for the hair.

Since my hair is the dry type, I found out egg shampoo will be the best. I don't dare to try it yet.

Ok, talking about silicones, the website www.naturallycurly.com has actually listed down the good, bad and the worst silicones in shampoos. Well, the good silicones does not cause build up but the bad and the worst yes.

The good silicones will be Stearoxy Dimethicone and Behenoxy Dimethicone which is water soluble so it does not cause build up.

Now, I am using the L'oreal Paris Re-Nutrition shampoo, conditioner and the hair mask. I took some time to read the ingredients which I never do before.

The shampoo has the worst silicone Dimethicone. The conditioner on the other hand has the bad silicone Cyclopentasiloxane. Oh my!!! The mask has no silicones listed but there are mineral oil.

Hmm shampoo to be changed soon. Finding a good shampoo is hard. Any ideas???
